Swan is an electronic money institution authorised to provide payment services by the French prudential supervisory authority, the Autorit\u00e9 de Contr\u00f4le Prudentiel et de R\u00e9solution<\/i> (ACPR). \ud83c\uddeb\ud83c\uddf7<\/p>\n

This means Swan isn’t a traditional bank in the classic sense, but operates under a European e-money licence. This distinction matters, as it comes with a few practical consequences for your account. For example, we’re not able to offer a German “Pf\u00e4ndungsschutzkonto” (P-account), since this type of account is legally reserved for traditional banks only.<\/p>\n

Yes! Even though Swan isn’t a “traditional” credit institution, it’s subject to strict regulatory requirements set by the ACPR. Your balance is kept separate from Swan’s own company funds and safeguarded in accounts held at other banks (safeguarding), so your money is protected.<\/p>\n
