You will therefore deduct their cost in instalments over the years of use of these goods and not entirely the year of purchase. <\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Above a certain value, acquisition costs for purchased goods must be depreciated over their useful life. Different rules apply according to the asset value:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\"><b>Below 250\u20ac (without VAT)<\/b> <\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\u2192 No amortisation, purchased goods are treated as normal expenses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\"><b>Between 250\u20ac and 800\u20ac (without VAT)<\/b> <\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\u2192 purchased goods are written off immediately<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\"><b>Above 800\u20ac (without VAT)<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\u2192 purchased goods are reported as assets, depreciated over time. Amortisation applies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\u2757It is always best to follow the depreciation period specified by the German Federal Ministry of Finance. You can find the official depreciation table (AfA table) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bundesfinanzministerium.de\/Content\/DE\/Standardartikel\/Themen\/Steuern\/Weitere_Steuerthemen\/Betriebspruefung\/AfA-Tabellen\/Ergaenzende-AfA-Tabellen\/AfA-Tabelle_AV.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"intercom-content-link font-inter\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">The government recommends the following periods, depending on the asset category:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Building: 50 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Other construction: 15-33 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Development\/Landscaping: 15-33 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Office furniture: 13 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Technology: 3-5 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Car (new): 6 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Car (secondhand): The depreciation of used vehicles depends on the expected remaining useful life of the vehicle:<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Motorbikes, bicycles: 7 years<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">The app will automatically suggest a timeframe to amortise your purchases, based on the category.<\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\n<hr>\n<h2 class=\"font-degular\" id=\"h_cb62eb7744\"><b>\ud83d\udce5 How to add an asset in your account?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Upload your receipt in the &#8220;Expenses&#8221; section and make sure to follow these two steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\"><b>Select the number of years<\/b> in the &#8220;Amortisation&#8221; field. <\/p>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">\u2192 This period is automatically suggested based on the type of expense. However, you can always adjust it by simply changing the number of years in the &#8220;Amortisation&#8221; field.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"font-inter\">\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">Enter the <b>name of your asset<\/b> in the field &#8220;Item Name&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"no-margin font-inter\">This way, you\u2019ll always keep a clear overview of your expenses and depreciation and ensure your bookkeeping is correct. \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n<div class=\"intercom-interblocks-table-container\">\n<table role=\"presentation\" style=\"border: 1px solid #c6c9c0; and fill in the required fields.
