Today, it stands at 100%, and this percentage will gradually decrease in the coming years, depending on the year of purchase or lease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">But how much tax relief does a car actually provide nowadays? <strong>The deductibility of a car is generally determined by its CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> (see details below). <strong>maximum deduction has been reduced to 100%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">It\u2019s worth noting that <strong>2026 is the last year you can benefit from a 100% deduction over the full depreciation period<\/strong>, as this percentage will gradually decrease from 2027 onwards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">In most cases, the purchase of a new electric car is <strong>depreciated over 5 years, at 20% per year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\"><strong>Electric cars bought or ordered in 2026 remain fully tax-deductible at 100% for the entire depreciation period. <\/strong>This means that you can still claim a 100% tax deduction for an electric car until 2027, provided it\u2019s used for business purposes. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">Unlike non-electric cars, the depreciation percentage does not decrease over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"tax-deductibility-of-a-hybrid-car\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">Tax deductibility of a hybrid car<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">From 2026 onwards, the tax deductibility of hybrid cars will be significantly limited and depends on the type of car as well as the type of self-employed person (individual or company).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list list-disc list-outside ml-0 mb-4 space-y-2\">\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\"><strong>Standard hybrids<\/strong> (non plug-in): from 2026, <strong>no longer tax-deductible<\/strong> for either individuals or companies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\"><strong>Plug-in hybrid cars <\/strong>(PHEVs): remain tax-deductible in 2026, depending on their CO\u2082 emissions in 2026, depreciated over 5 years (20% per year), then the tax deduction would look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list list-disc list-outside ml-0 mb-4 space-y-2\">\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">First depreciation in 2026: 100% deductible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">Second depreciation in 2027: 95% deductible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">Third depreciation in 2028: 65% deductible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"font-inter text-base text-black\">Fourth depreciation in 2029: id=\"tax-deduction-for-petrol-diesel-and-lpg-cars-internal-combustion-engines\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">Tax deduction for petrol, diesel, and LPG cars (internal combustion engines)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">Classic cars with internal combustion engines will <strong>no longer be tax-deductible from 2026<\/strong>, making them less attractive from a tax perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">In other words, <strong>if you buy or start leasing a diesel or petrol car in 2026, it will no longer be tax-deductible.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"what-if-you-purchased-your-car-before-2026\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">What if you purchased your car before 2026?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">For cars purchased or leased between 1 July 2023 and 31 December 2025, the tax deductibility was calculated using the gram formula:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\"><strong>120% &#8211; (0.5% x [coefficient] x CO2)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">Where the coefficient is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure using the gram formula determines your car\u2019s tax deductibility. The same principles also apply to <strong>leasing<\/strong> and <strong>car sharing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"tax-deductions-for-light-commercial-vehicles\" class=\"wp-block-heading font-degular scroll-mt-32\">Tax deductions for light commercial vehicles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"font-inter text-base leading-relaxed mb-4 first-of-type:mt-0 text-black\">A light commercial vehicle is a van.
