Income by profession: who earns the most?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Not every profession is equally lucrative. Here are the median annual turnovers for full-time self-employed professionals, according to the Accountable Index:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The speed at which self-employed professionals reach \u20ac100,000 in turnover varies significantly by profession:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Car dealers in Flanders<\/strong> earn the most in Belgium, with a median turnover of \u20ac138,971.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Construction professionals<\/strong> perform well everywhere, but do even better as a secondary occupation in Wallonia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Lawyers in secondary occupation<\/strong> rank highest in Brussels (\u20ac79,915) and Flanders (\u20ac61,015).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Artists<\/strong> are among the lowest-earning groups across all regions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Marketing professionals<\/strong> earn much more in Brussels (\u20ac89,523) than in Flanders or Wallonia (~\u20ac50,000).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Paramedical professionals<\/strong> achieve the best results in Brussels (\u20ac82,760).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Photographers<\/strong> show significant regional inequality, ranging from \u20ac54,134 (Wallonia) to \u20ac61,630 (Brussels).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Flanders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Zooming in on Flanders, it\u2019s clear that in Antwerp the entrepreneurial spirit is stronger than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        According to the Accountable Index<\/em>, the average annual income of a full-time self-employed professional in Antwerp is \u20ac60,659, while part-timers (secondary occupation) average \u20ac14,290.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Teachers:<\/strong> \u20ac88,883<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          What stands out is that consultants and IT professionals in Antwerp reach their first \u20ac100,000 turnover about 25% faster than in Brussels<\/strong>, and even 60% faster than in West Flanders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Yet, in terms of overall turnover, Antwerp ranks only third, after Walloon Brabant and Limburg. A possible explanation? Intense competition in a densely populated, entrepreneurial city.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Wallonia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          Heading south, we find that Walloon Brabant is the<\/em> hotspot for freelancers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          The average annual income there amounts to \u20ac59,725 for full-time self-employed professionals and \u20ac18,295 for those in secondary occupation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
