That means you can grant yourself meal vouchers as part of your remuneration, one of the most popular fringe benefits in Belgium.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Meal vouchers let you increase your net income without extra social security contributions. But which provider should you choose? The Belgian market is dominated by three players: Monizze, Edenred and Pluxee (formerly Sodexo).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>They all offer the same basic statutory product, but they differ on a number of points that can make a real difference, especially for the self-employed and SMEs. We compare them on this page.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tax deductibility of meal vouchers in 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Meal vouchers are popular because they are exempt from social security contributions and are not treated as taxable income, as long as the statutory conditions are met. They are therefore a tax-efficient way to optimise your remuneration as a company director in a limited company (or that of your employees, if you have any).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1 January 2026, the maximum value of a meal voucher is \u20ac10 per day actually worked. That \u20ac10 is made up of two parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Your company pays: a maximum of<strong> \u20ac8.91 per voucher <\/strong>(the employer&#8217;s contribution)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You pay: a minimum of <strong>\u20ac1.09 per voucher<\/strong> (the employee&#8217;s contribution, deducted from your salary)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You are free to set the value of your meal vouchers yourself, up to the statutory maximum of \u20ac10 per day worked. As a result, your costs stay the same, even when you opt for meal vouchers at the maximum value.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transparent pricing: Monizze is the only provider that publishes its rates. With management fees from \u20ac7.99 per beneficiary per order, Monizze is also among the most affordable solutions for the self-employed and SMEs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4-in-1 card: meal, eco, gift and sport &amp; culture vouchers on a single card.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accountant access: you can give your accountant or payroll office direct access to your customer area, making administration and follow-up easier.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User-friendly app: with a score of 4.7\/5 based on more than 6,500 reviews on Google Play, the Monizze app is among the best rated in the sector. You can easily check your balance, transactions and expiry dates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advantageous for merchants too: with a merchant commission of 1.50%, Monizze charges the lowest transaction cost on the market (compared with 1.55% at Edenred). That makes the card attractive for both users and affiliated merchants.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Customer service you can reach by phone: you are helped directly by a local team that knows Belgian regulations and answers within three rings, with no menu or hold music.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong focus on security and sustainability: Monizze holds an EcoVadis Gold rating (2025) and an ISO\/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security, among others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acceptance network of around 36,000 points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Limitations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Less suited to large international companies that need a multi-country solution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Apple Pay and Google Pay are not supported, but Monizze is working on an innovative solution due to arrive soon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Edenred<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Edenred is the international market leader in workplace payment solutions and operates in more than 45 countries.<\/strong> In Belgium the product is known as <strong>Ticket Restaurant <\/strong>and targets businesses of all sizes, with a particularly strong position among medium-sized and large companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strengths:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Best customer satisfaction score on Trustpilot: 4.4 to 4.5\/5 based on more than 1,400 reviews.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Acceptance network of 38,000+ partners.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Integration with Payconiq and the Mastercard payment network.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seamless connection with all the major payroll offices (SD Worx, Securex, Partena, Liantis, Acerta, UCM, Group S).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stable, mature technological infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Limitations:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No public pricing: rates on request, which makes comparison harder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International company: less local focus than Monizze.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Monizze stands out as the only fully Belgian player that went fully digital from the very start, an approach that helped shape the rest of the sector. Edenred excels in customer satisfaction and stability. Pluxee has a large acceptance network but needs to repair its reputation after the rebrand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are you a small self-employed person or an SME? Then <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.monizze.be\/en\/\">Monizze<\/a><\/strong> is often the strongest choice: transparent pricing, low costs, an excellent app and a Belgian customer service that actually helps you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a medium-sized company, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edenred.be\/fr\">Edenred<\/a><\/strong> offers the best combination of customer satisfaction, technological stability and a large acceptance network. Integration with payroll offices runs smoothly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a large or international company, <strong>both Edenred and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pluxee.be\/\">Pluxee<\/a> <\/strong>can meet your needs.
