Accountable lets you create, send, and receive invoices via Peppol, the European e-invoicing network, directly from the app. Whether you need to comply with Belgium's B2B e-invoicing rules or simply want a professional invoicing tool, this guide covers everything you need to get started.
Below you will find how to activate Peppol, send and receive invoices, explore the invoicing features, and choose the right plan.
Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement Online) is a secure network that lets businesses send and receive structured e-invoices in a standardised format.
In Belgium:
Peppol was already mandatory for invoices to public sector clients.
Since January 2026, it is mandatory for B2B invoicing between Belgian companies.
Peppol is not an email or a PDF. It is a machine-readable document sent through a certified access point. Using Peppol helps ensure:

Faster processing
Fewer errors and disputes
Accountable is a certified Peppol access point, which means you can send and receive Peppol invoices directly from the app, without any third-party tools.
There are a few steps to complete first:
You need to verify your identity and confirm your company details. This is a legal requirement to prevent fraud on the Peppol network.
In Accountable, go to More > Settings > Peppol and follow the steps:
Fill in your enterprise number (if not already provided)
Upload a valid proof of identity (eID or passport)
Wait for confirmation
Once verified, your business is officially registered on the Peppol network.

Did you know that since Accountable is a certified Peppol access point, your subscription fee is 120% deductible ? It will be the case until end of 2027.
Once your registration is approved, sending a Peppol invoice works almost the same way as sending a regular invoice:
Create an invoice as usual in Accountable.
Select a client that has a known Peppol address.
Accountable will automatically detect if this client can receive Peppol invoices.
Choose "Send via Peppol" instead of email or PDF.
The invoice is sent directly to their accounting system through the network.

If you already have invoices in PDF form, you can also import them into Accountable and send them via Peppol. Here is how it works:
Go to Revenue in Accountable.
Click Import invoice to bring in your own invoice file (PDF).
Fill in the required details (client, amounts, invoice date, etc.), then mark the invoice as "Not sent".
When you are ready, choose "Save and prepare to send" and make sure "Send the invoice via Peppol" is selected.
Make sure your client is registered on the Peppol network for the Peppol option to work.
This lets you continue using your existing invoices, even if they were not created in Accountable, while still benefiting from Peppol delivery.

Once your business is registered, you can also receive structured e-invoices from suppliers that use Peppol.
How it works in Accountable:
The supplier sends the invoice through the Peppol network using your registered enterprise number.
The invoice arrives directly in Accountable and is added to your expenses. A small Peppol logo appears next to it.
You receive an email notification confirming that an invoice arrived via Peppol.
This removes the need to forward emails or scan PDFs. The invoice data is already structured, making it straightforward to process or export.
Even if you are not using Accountable for bookkeeping or taxes, the invoicing features are designed to be simple and complete:
Create and send professional invoices
Fully customise layout (logo, notes, terms and conditions)
Send invoices via email, Peppol, or PDF download
Track payment status and send reminders
Issue credit notes when needed

You can also export your invoices for your accountant, or download them in bulk.

The Free Invoicing plan already includes access to Peppol. You can send unlimited invoices via Peppol directly from the mobile app. This plan does not include the web version or features such as bulk invoice export or VAT return generation.
With Invoicing Plus, you get all the features of the Free plan on the web version, plus invoice customisation, recurring invoices, and instalment billing. A solid choice if you are looking for your next invoicing tool with full Peppol support.
The Bookkeeping plan gives you Peppol access (like all plans) along with a revenue and expense dashboard. You can encode as many expenses as you need. If you want to manage your accounting together with your accountant, this is the plan for you.
If you also need to handle your tax obligations, the Taxes plan adds VAT declaration and income tax declaration generation (for natural persons) on top of everything in the Bookkeeping plan.

They always answer for questions wherever is via direct e-mail or through app. If they can’t answer fully they will forward you to the right place. Documents were always prepared well and ready to send further to government. Everything is intuitive in the app and easy to sort out even for someone completely green in this field.
