Peppol is an international e-invoicing network that allows businesses to send and receive standardized invoices. Originally designed for EU public procurement, Peppol is now used by both public and private companies in many EU and non-EU countries. It simplifies invoicing, reduces costs, and ensures regulatory compliance, primarily for B2B, but also for B2G.

Learn how to send Peppol invoices internationally, including registration requirements.

1. Conditions for sending a Peppol e-invoice internationally

To send a Peppol e-invoice to a foreign client, certain conditions must be met. These ensure that both you and your client are able to use the network for efficient e-invoicing.

Your foreign client must:

  • Be officially registered on the Peppol network in their own country.

  • Have a valid VAT number linked to a Peppol access point.

  • Be able to receive UBL (Universal Business Language) invoices via their system.

Once these conditions are met, Accountable will allow you to tick the option to send an invoice via Peppol.

2. What if my Client Is not on Peppol?

If your foreign client is not connected to Peppol, sending an e-invoice through the Peppol network isn’t possible. In this case, you can:

  • Send the invoice by email or PDF directly from Accountable.

  • Encourage your client to register on Peppol so they can receive future e-invoices via the platform.
