If you are subject to VAT and you do quarterly VAT returns, you may wonder how much VAT you will need to pay to the tax administration.

How is the VAT due calculated?

To calculate the VAT due, you first need to sum the VAT on your sales and the VAT on your reverse-charge expenses (co-contractors and intra-EU purchases) for the quarter. Then you need to sum the VAT on your purchases from the quarter. You subtract the VAT on your purchases from the first amount. You will then get the VAT to pay for that quarter.
