A suspicious-login alert usually means your email and password leaked from another website, not that Accountable itself was breached. If this login wasn't you, change your password and turn on two-factor authentication right away.
In this article, you'll learn why this alert appears, what to do immediately if it wasn't you, and simple habits that keep your account secure long-term.
Our security system flagged that someone tried to log in to your Accountable account using your usual password. In the vast majority of cases, this doesn't mean Accountable itself was hacked, it means your email and password appeared in a data leak from another website (a forum, an online shop, or another service you use), and someone tried that same combination on Accountable's login page. If you reuse that password elsewhere, those other accounts are exposed too.
You can check where your email has appeared in known leaks on haveibeenpwned.com.
If this login wasn't you, act on these two things right away:
Change your password: This automatically logs you out of every active session except the one you're using right now.
Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA): See how to activate two-factor authentication in this related article.
Can't log in anymore?
This article on troubleshooting a login problem can help, or reach out in the chat.
Use a unique password for every site. Never reuse the same password across services, so a leak elsewhere can't put your Accountable account at risk.
Use a password manager. Bitwarden, 1Password, or the one built into your browser generates and remembers a strong, unique password for every site.
Keep two-factor authentication on. Even if a password leaks, 2FA stops most unauthorized logins.
Watch out for phishing. Accountable will never ask for your password by email. If a message asks you to "confirm" your password or login details, don't click, contact us instead.
Accountable continuously monitors accounts for unusual activity. If something abnormal is detected on your specific account, Accountable will reach out to you directly, you don't need to check this yourself.
Questions? We're here in the chat or at support@accountable.eu, happy to help 😊
Does this mean Accountable was hacked?
No. This alert means your password was found in a leak from another website, not from Accountable's own systems. Accountable's systems were not breached.
What if I don't remember using that password anywhere else?
Data leaks are often old, the password may be from a service you signed up for years ago and forgot about. Checking haveibeenpwned.com with your email can show you where it appeared.
Do I need to delete my account because of this?
No, changing your password and enabling 2FA is enough to secure it. If you'd still rather delete your account, this article explains how, but it isn't required after a login alert.
How do I know if my account was actually accessed?
Accountable's security team checks each flagged account for unusual activity and will contact you directly if anything specific to your account looks wrong.

Everything was great! All my questions were answered quickly and in a friendly manner.
In the world where everyone seems to be out to get small entrepreneurs and overwhelm them with new rules, more taxes and reporting obligations, Accountable often feels like the one steady partner that actually wants you to succeed, providing quick, clear and personalised support. Thank you!
This is an amazing application with great support on issues. In short as in day I am addicted to it (in a positive way). I myself is from IT project management and the way they have captured the user requirement, it’s phenomenal.
UI is great. Feature packed and very easy to use. The team at Accountable were VERY quick to respond and their team of technicians soon had a fix in place. Very happy with the level of service so far. Thumbs up from me!
This program is a lifesaver, and it is always improving. Plus, it has an AI chat feature that is actually useful.
The coaching session on tax management was excellent, good material, excellent explanations and very insightful. Combined with the AI I never feel alone with Accountable.
The availability of your team to help and guide people to understand their finances better is what really makes Accountable valuable. While the AI is able to give answers to most basic questions, specific scenarios need counsel from a human which your team performs beautifully.
Fast and careful answers from Alina. Top service. Thank you.
They always answer for questions wherever is via direct e-mail or through app. If they can’t answer fully they will forward you to the right place. Documents were always prepared well and ready to send further to government. Everything is intuitive in the app and easy to sort out even for someone completely green in this field.
