How much does the average self-employed professional in Belgium actually earn? Accountable investigated and published the Accountable Index, based on the anonymised data of 11,803 Belgian entrepreneurs.
The figures speak for themselves: a full-time self-employed professional earns an average of €67,231 per year, while those self-employed as a secondary occupation earn an average of €15,139. Topping the income rankings are self-employed doctors, with a median annual revenue of over €200,000. Car dealers come in second place with over €160,000, and financial advisers and estate agents round out the top three with a median revenue of over €135,000.
"Doctors stand out due to their rare expertise and extensive training, while car dealers and estate agents operate in sectors characterised by high-value financial transactions," says CEO Nicolas Quarré. Region also plays a role: Walloon Brabant records the highest incomes for full-time consultants and IT professionals, while Brussels establishes itself as the capital of secondary-occupation self-employment.
