Did you know that by 2026, all invoicing between Belgian companies will have to be done via electronic invoicing? To give yourself a headstart, you can already register on Peppol and enjoy simpler and faster invoicing. Concretely, you’ll be able to send electronic invoices to your clients and receive them from your suppliers. In this article, we cover what you need to do to receive your e-invoices from Orange.

Guide to setting up electronic invoicing at Orange

To be able to receive electronic invoices from Orange, you first need to be registered on Peppol. All done? Great, then let’s continue.

Not registered on Peppol yet? First things first: how do you register to use Peppol?

To receive your Orange invoices automatically in your invoicing or accounting software, you need to change your billing preferences at Orange.

Contact Orange on 5995 (only if you are calling from an Orange number) or 0800 95 96 2 and the Orange service immediately activates e-invoicing for you.

⚠️ Please note you can only receive your Orange invoices as e-invoices if your VAT number is included on the invoice.

Are you self-employed as a sole proprietor and only claim part of your telecom invoice as a business expense? In that case, your VAT number may not yet be on your invoice. To receive e-invoices via Peppol as a self-employed sole proprietor, it’s best to contact customer service to have your VAT number added to your invoices.

What does electronic invoicing entail?

The terms electronic invoice and digital invoice are not interchangeable. A PDF invoice is a digital invoice, but it’s not an electronic invoice.

Electronic invoices, also called e-invoices, are XML files transferred in UBL format via the Peppol network. These UBL standards ensure that the invoice contrains all the required information and that it is readable by invoicing or accounting software.

These software programs can automatically create, receive, and even process electronic invoices. You can even set them up to automatically pay invoices.

How do I register to use Peppol?

To receive electronic invoices from Orange or another telecom operator, you must have invoicing or accounting software. Then, you need to register on Peppol. Registration is simple and free.

Here are the steps to register via Accountable:

1. Log in via the website or app.
2. Open the menu and click on 'Settings'.
3. Select ‘Peppol (e-invoicing)’.
4. Register to receive electronic invoices via the Peppol network.

Activation can take some time. To know if it’s worked, search for your company name in the Peppol Directory.

Once your registration is complete, you’ll automatically start receiving electronic invoices from some suppliers that use electronic invoicing. For others, like Orange, you’ll first need to activate electronic invoicing with the company. Your invoices will then automatically appear in the expenses tab in Accountable.

Other telecom operators, such as Digi, Mobile Vikings and EDPnet, don’t offer the possibility of electronic invoicing yet.
