Have you already switched to e-invoicing and would you like to receive payment requests from your social security fund (Liantis, Securex, Partena Professional, etc.) as e-invoices? Then we have good and bad news.

The bad news is that your social security fund will not send e-invoices, simply because they are not required to use PEPPOL. In addition, the payment requests for your social contributions are not actual invoices but account statements.

The good news is that nothing changes when it comes to paying your social contributions.

Why can’t you receive your social security contributions as e-invoices?

We admit that it would be super convenient to automatically receive your quarterly social security contributions as e-invoices in your accounting software.

However, a social security fund such as Acerta, Securex, Liantis, Partena Professional, or Xerius is not required to use PEPPOL as of 01/01/2026.

Moreover, the payment requests for your quarterly contributions are not actual invoices but payment requests or account statements.

In practice, this means that nothing will change when it comes to receiving the statements from your social security fund.

What do I need to do to receive e-invoices from suppliers?

Okay, so you won’t be receiving your social security contributions as e-invoices.

But to receive invoices from other suppliers as e-invoices, you’ll need invoicing or accounting software and you must register with PEPPOL.

The registration is free and only takes about two minutes.

Here’s how to do it via Accountable:

  1. Log in via the website or app.
  2. Open the menu and choose “Settings.”
  3. Select “Peppol (e-invoicing).”
  4. Start the registration and follow the steps to verify your identity.
  5. We’ll handle your registration for you.

It may take a few minutes for your activation to be completed. Not sure if it worked?
You can easily check here whether your business is registered for PEPPOL.

What happens next?

Once your registration is complete, you’ll start to automatically receive electronic invoices from some of your suppliers that use electronic invoicing. Your invoices will then automatically appear in the expenses tab in Accountable. Another little bit of time saved!

In addition, from now on, you also need to send e-invoices yourself to all your Belgian VAT-registered customers. Read all about e-invoicing and how to send e-invoices here.
